Agroforestry Enterprise Planning

Agroforestry earning

Promoting entrepreneurial Agroforestry is a multi-actor effort. We are using a tool for Agroforestry Enterprise planning. Crops, trees, animals, techniques and labour from a Regional Data Pool are now evaluated for their long-term financial viability.

Plot Enterprise Planning

Even if Agroforestry enterprises may be financially feasible (we see models with potential benefits up to € 5000/ha), producers rarely can communicate this to investors. Therefore Partners for Innovation has developed Plot Enterprise Planning, a tool in which crops, trees, animals, techniques and labour from a Regional Data Pool are evaluated for their long-term financial viability. Intense discussion with the entrepreneurs evaluates their experience and risks to be accounted for. Besides business plans, the exercise results in thorough awareness of financial planning by project staff as well as producers.

Financing for Scaling-Up Agroforestry

Promoting entrepreneurial Agroforestry is a multi-actor effort. Take, for example, private financing. Farmers need to make clear to financers that their venture is economically feasible; but also need to develop loan formats that appreciate the multi-annual return on investment that agroforestry can deliver. Government policy might include guarantee systems, while traders might take a role to collect repayments. PfI has the expertise to design and support so-called Multi-Actor Processes.
