EU - Renewable Energy in Emerging and Developing Countries (RECIPES)

Client: European Commission - DG Research
Period: 2007

The RECIPES research project showed the potential of renewable energy in 15 emerging and developing countries worldwide, including Ghana, South Africa, China, Indonesia, Brasil and Mexico. The project was carried out by a consortium of five environmental consultancy agencies, including Partners for Innovation, on behalf of the European Commission DG Research.

Renewable energy that benefits all
The main aim of the project was to contribute to the implementation of renewable energy in emerging and developing countries by bringing together the supply and demand side and by providing them with recommendations. The study specifically looked at the balance between benefits for the local socio-economic situation, for the environment and for EU suppliers of renewable energy source technology, the so-called ‘Triple Win’.
