‘Brammetje Bammetje’, the new packaging for a quarter loaf of bread -developed by Beko, Oerlemans Plastics and Partners for Innovation- is nominated for the ‘Tackled’ award organised by NedVang. With this concept, the disposal of old bread is reduced with approximately 10%, and may save in up to 50 million kilos of bread in the Netherlands.
Ten sustainable packages compete
Nedvang (Netherlands from Waste to Resource) nominated ten companies for the ‘Tackled’ award. Nedvang invented the award to provide a concrete image of the measures that Dutch producers and importers take to reduce the amount of packaging in the Netherlands, an obligation under the Packaging Decree.
Out of 76 qualitatively good entries, an external expert selected ten nominees. The jury, consisting of Prof. R. ten Klooster (University of Twente), Dr E.U. Thoden van Velzen (Wageningen University), J.H. Welink (TU Delft), will select the final prize winners. These will be announced during Nedvang’s 2013 New Year’s reception.
