The Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Products Innovation Institute designed an framework to measure the economic, social, and environmental impacts of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products. The framework guides the continuous improvement of design and manufacturing to make products safer, healthier and endlessly reusable.
To test and refine the framework Trucost, the environmental data specialist, sampled products from ten very different companies, including Desso, Puma and Mosa Tiles. The framework looks at five categories – Natural Health, Material Reutilization, Renewable Energy, Water Stewardship and Social Fairness – and how these categories drive change in companies to improve performance and reduce costs.
The final report gives a detailed account of the economic advantages achieved by the ‘early innovators’ of this certification programme.
Peter Vissers from Partners for Innovation guided the pilot study as member of the Steering Committee.
