“Brammetje Bammetje”, the new packaging for a quarter loaf of bread by Oerlemans Plastics, is according to “Aangepakt 2012” (tackled) one of the Top-3 most innovative packaging solutions in the Netherlands.
Approaches to reduce waste
‘Aangepakt’ is an initiative of Nedvang (Netherlands from Waste to Resource). With this contest, Nedvang wants to show how manufacturers and importers of packaged products invent new solutions to reduce the amount of packaging. From 76 entries, an external jury chose ten nominees. During the New Year’s reception on 15 January, the winner – Lush BV – and the runners-up Oerlemans Plastics and Ecover were announced.
Brammetje Bammetje is developed by Beko Verpakkingen, Oerlemans Plastics and Partners for Innovation. With the bread bag made for a quarter loaf, the disposal of old bread is reduced with approximately 10%. This may save up to 50 million kilos of bread in the Netherlands.
