Energy policy in the building sector: showcase Germany
The EVD / Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs commissioned Partners for Innovation to study the developments related to energy efficiency and renewable energy in the German building sector. The main conclusion of the study is that German policy in this area has obtained very good results and that this offers significant opportunities for companies in the Netherlands. Strong clusters of companies were built all over Germany, many innovative small businesses were able to break through, employment and export volumes rose quickly and are still rising. This is the result of Germany’s long lasting and consistent policy in energy efficiency and renewable energy, linked to industry policy, housing policy and spatial planning. Chancellor Angela Merkel firmly believes that the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technology will create significant employment and export opportunities. The final version of the market study is now available at the EVD website.

cradle2cradle

Cradle to cradle in Venlo, the Netherlands
On 31 January 2008, the Dutch Association for Environmental Professionals organised an inspiring workshop on cradle-to-cradle in Venlo, the Netherlands. In cradle-to-cradle production all material inputs and outputs are seen either as technical or biological nutrients. The workshop focused on practical examples of the application of the cradle-to-cradle principles, for example in de 2012 Floriade, and in the development plan of Venlo. Partners for Innovation published a web report on the workshop; click here to view the presentations and the report.
